Wireless Over-ear Bluetooth headphones:Skullcandy hesh evo review

Nov 28,2023 | David

The Skullcandy Hesh Evo are wireless over-ear headphones. They look very similar in design to the Skullcandy Hesh 3 Wireless and Skullcandy Hesh ANC Wireless, as they have a similarly comfortable design and lack a companion app. What sets them apart from others in the Hesh lineup is their longer-lasting continuous battery life of around 44 hours. They also have an excited, v-shaped sound profile that adds extra boom and thump to your mixes while brightening vocals and lead instruments. How do they feel to actually use it?Are these headphones really that good? This article collects some real user reviews for reference to help you analyze.

“I'm not an audiophile...I won't be able to woo you with my use of words and ability to describe sound. However, if you're like me, not an audiophile, and just looking for some decent quality headphones that get the job done, seem durable enough, go ahead and get these.

They were on sale when I got them for like $60. I'm a long time under of the Skullkandy brand it's my usual go-to when I'm needing to pick up a new pair of headphones. I've previously owned the Hesh 2 wireless and I can definitely see the improvement of sound on these vs those...it's crisper. I've also owned the crusher wireless and it's hard to say whether I like these better. The bass is here but obviously if you're a basshead those will probably be the better option, though these sound better overall I'd say.

Battery life lasts me about 2 days of constant listening at a pretty low volume. Not the best, not the worst, but these things seem to charge pretty fast from empty and the type C charging system is a sure upgrade over the micro USB of other units.

If you're an audiophile, if you're passionate about sound, maybe these aren't for you. You'd probably be able to pick them apart somehow, but you'd probably also be able to agree that the sound is at least decent. And if you're someone who is indecisive about purchases like me, I'd say these more than for the bill for the price range. You can feel safe purchasing these unless you're looking to scrounge every corner online for the perfect headphones in this range.”

“Connection:Connections are consistent and strong. I've yet to drop at connection when within range.

Charging times:In my experience, charging takes around 7%-10% longer than listed. However, that's fairly typical with wireless headphones.

Battery life:I get better battery life than listed. I wouldn't count on that with your unit, but you should expect the listed times to be accurate.

Sound quality:Highs and lows are fairly well defined for a wireless headphone at this level. Do I have wireless units with better sound? Yes, I do. However, those headphones carry a far higher premium.

Expect above average highs and slightly above average lows.

Overall:For what these are compared to their premium, I feel these wireless headphones represent a strong value for those looking for mid-range units.

Recommended 4 stars”

“got these because i was looking for a headset to use for pc gaming and for music/audiobooks walking around. these are bluetooth and they come with a jack to plug into a pc!

they are pretty comfy and good sound. i really like the design with the matte black. they look like the $300 sony or bose ones without that cost lol. glasses approved!!! battery life is great

no way of knowing the charge levels throughout the day. when you hold them they are pretty light and plasticy which felt a little cheap to me. can hear sound externally so not great to listen with the volume up in public”

“I'm an old guy, don't play games, just wanted to hear music and TV programs in an easy, pleasant fashion. I had several problems with these headphones. The major problem is they are quite small. The headband barely covers an adult head at full extension. The ear cup openings are too small for male adult ears. The single control switch tries to accomplish too many functions, making it very difficult to use. The sound quality is not impressive. Lots of plastic parts that may not prove durable. Overall, the headphones are not worth the price. I will keep searching.”

“If you're looking for a great sounding wireless headphone that will also be durable (unlike the cheaper brands) this is a great option.

The battery lasts really long in wireless mode, charges very quickly, and you can use AUX if you're out of juice for some reason. The headphone is comfortable to wear for long time periods, although your ears might get slightly sweaty. The headphones aren't heavy though, so you shouldn't experience discomfort.

Coming to sound quality, I'm not a big music aficionado but I found this had the right amount of bass and treble for me.

As for office calls, the audio is very clear, the Bluetooth range allows you to walk across the room without losing the signal, and the mic ensures your voice goes through despite any amount of background noise. As for noise cancelation, this has no active cancelation, but the thick padding on your ear lets you hear your music or office calls regardless of background noise.”

“What I like about this device is that when I push the + button once the volume goes up and when I press the - button once the volume goes down.

Yes I know how silly that sounds, but with most of my Bluetooth headphones clicking + skipped to the next song and you had to press and hold that button to control the volume.

Skull candy knows that if you are reaching for buttons that look like + and - most people want to change the volume and they can do something else to skip to the next song, like press and hold it.

This design is very human. Thank you.”

“I spent a long time trying to find a good set of Headphones that would be compatible with my hearing aids. Being deaf I need volume control, clear, loud sound and comfort with and without my hearing aids. I am able to hear out of these and I have no issues with the sound plus, the headphones are light and comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The charging seems to be quick and the Bluetooth pairs easily with other Bluetooth devices and even a transmitter. These headphones are compatible with 5.0 Bluetooth transmitters. I absolutely love this headset and it meets all of my needs and expectations. Not all headphones work with my hearing aids and not all are loud enough to wear without them. I would buy this set again, and highly recommend them.”

“Good:

-Light weight.

-Large buttons for locating volume controls.

-Good sound quality.

-I got the tile app set up with the skullcandy headphones. It worked with no issues.

Bad:

-Slightly snug fit, but I have a pretty big head.

-Not designed to work with the skullcandy app and they are not on the list of compatible devices.

I ordered the Skullcandy Hesh Evo Wireless Over-Ear Headphone, True Black. The Skullcandy headphones worked well and have good sound quality. They don’t have noise canceling features, but that is another reason why I like them. The silicone cover over the buttons makes the headphones seem solid and good for water protection. Overall, if it synced to more than one device at a time, it would get five stars.”

“I'll try to summarize this quickly. It's cushiony and plush. Has nice squish at the top of the headpiece and there's a lot of cushioning where it goes over your ears; including the part where the speakers are. Some people did say the plastic part made it seem cheap, but while it is plastic it is rather sturdy (pressure was used). I used my hand for sizing, but depending on your ear size it might be on-ear, but my ears fit just right, which made it over-ear.

And like another review said, it no longer comes with the carry bag, but you do still get the cords.

It's been about a year since I've had these and they still work great! There's an occasional squeak when I turn the earpiece, but that's all. Sound quality hasn't changed and I could easily wear them for hours since they're comfortable enough too. One thing to note is that you NEED to use the cord it came with to properly charge it! That'll be all from me :)”

“i returned this item because the volume wasn’t very loud. i was so hype to receive this item because of all of the good reviews i heard on this manufacturer. when i reveived the item, immediately got them out of the box to try them on. as i connect it to my phone and played music, i thought maybe i hadn’t raised the bar volume all the way up because the sound was so low, but when i doubled checked and notice i had it on the loudest setting, i was really disappointed. i immediately compared them to the sound quality of different (cheaper) headphones i owned and to say the least the difference in volume quality was clear. the other ones i compared to, even airpods where at least twice as loud. on a positive note, hopefully the case is that maybe the one they sent me was defective because there is no way they made them to be so quiet.”

The above are some referential user reviews about Skullcandy hesh evo wireless over-ear Bluetooth headphones. From these reviews, we can see that users have praised its sound quality, noise cancelling function and other aspects. It is very suitable for daily life, such as traveling, commuting, studying or playing games. However, if it is used in sports, its thick earmuffs can easily bring a sense of oppression to the head and make the ears feel uncomfortable. In addition, the over-ear design of headphones is easy to fall off during exercise. Therefore, if you like sports at ordinary times, it is necessary to prepare another pair of headphones as sports headphones, it is necessary to choose a pair of sports headphones that is that are comfortable and stable to wear, and has good waterproof performance, such as Wissonly Hi Runner bone conduction headphones.

r/HeyNewGadget - Wireless Over-ear Bluetooth headphones:Skullcandy hesh evo review

Wissonly's team has been researching headphone products that don't hurt the ear as early as 10 years ago and introduced bone conduction technology into the field of headphones. Their products have powerful performance, high-cost performance, and are very strong in core performances such as sound quality, sound leakage reduction, and waterproof level.

Hi Runner sports bone conduction headphones are open-eared and worn directly on the temples, so your ear canal is completely open, which makes it easy for you to hear the sound of cars and traffic lights outdoors in sports scenes such as running and walking, making you safer to use.

In terms of fit and comfort, the whole frame of Wissonly Hi Runner is made of adjustable aviation grade titanium steel, which can adapt to different sizes of head circumference and ensure the stability of wearing. Its earphone surface is made of high-tech low-sensitivity silicone material, which contains no chemical components to avoid allergic phenomena. The overall touch of the earphone is as silky as baby's skin, avoiding uncomfortable situations when worn for a long time.

Moreover, its weight is very light, less than 30g, and it will not feel heavy when worn. After wearing it, I took it off at the end of the run. This Hi Runner didn't let me have any extra adjustment. As the flagship model of outdoor sports of Wissonly brand, it is the most comfortable and cost-effective one among all bone conduction at present.

When you sweat a lot when running or doing other sports, or when it suddenly rains when you run or exercise outdoors, then the waterproof performance of sports headphones is very important. As the flagship model of Wissonly, the waterproof grade of Wissonly Hi Runner Sports Bone Conductivity Headphone reaches IPX8 waterproof grade higher than the industry standard. It allows the wearer to work normally when swimming or diving, not to mention sweat prevention or ordinary waterproof.

It is also equipped with 32G body memory, which can store 5,000 songs, and supports Bluetooth and MP3 working modes. You can use it as a Bluetooth MP3 player for underwater sports or scenes without a mobile phone.

Hi Runner is the flagship product of Wissonly, and its overall function is also the most perfect. In terms of sound quality, this bone conduction earphone uses the latest research results of wissonly laboratory, which increases the vibration area of the vibrator by 35%. At the same time, it also optimizes the sound transmission direction to make the sound more concentrated and the music more spatial, and it has a good performance in both high and low notes.

Wissonly has made a lot of efforts to reduce its sound leakage. Its all-wrapped design reduces the vibration of the shell, and through structural optimization, the sound waves of the sound leakage are cancelled, thus avoiding 90% of the sound leakage. Wissonly Hi Runner's sound leakage performance is much better than that of the same gear bone conduction headphones on the market.

In terms of price, it only costs $99.99, which is very cost-effective!
