Jbl reflect aero earbuds review:Are they running earbuds?

Nov 02,2023 | David

The JBL Reflect Aero may look like most sports headphones on the shelves with their circular frame fringed with wing tips to help keep them in place when you’re exercising. However, there’s more to these headphones than meets the eye.The one obvious thing that sets them apart from other workout headphones is their waterproofing. With an IP rating of IP68, these wireless earbuds aren’t just water-resistant. You can dive down 1.5 meters in salt or fresh water with them on for 30 minutes, and they’ll keep on blasting those tunes (although you do have to account for the fact that Bluetooth signals don’t travel well in water).Want to know whether the jbl reflect aero are running earbuds and whether its sense of use experience is good? This paper sorts out some of its real user reviews for reference.

“I ordered these headphones to replace a pair of Bose Soundsports that I never really loved (got as a gift), and had begun wearing out physically (becoming unglued).

First I’ll say I’ve always loved the sound profile of JBL (have some of their speakers), so I assumed sound quality/profile of these would be up my alley and I was definitely right. While these don’t have the bass of my JBL speaker they do have more than the Bose.

Second, these are actually in-ear, which I love. During running I didn’t have any slipping or falling out issues other reviewers mentioned, either, so it might just depend on your ear size.

Third, the addition of noise canceling (which I haven’t truly tested in a louder environment yet) is definitely going to be great for the gym.

The only negative (hence 4 stars) I have is you can’t use the tap commands to adjust the volume, which did already start to bug me. But, I have a smart watch so I just need to retrain my brain to reach for that instead of a headphone cord.

All in all very happy with my purchase and looking forward to getting a lot of use out of these!”

“The JBL Reflect Aero earbuds are great for running as sweat doesn't seem to bother them at all. The sound quality is good and the noise cancellation is great. I haven't yet had a chance to try the noise cancellation on an airplane but for eveyday noises they worked just fine. I found they to be very comfortable to wear and the battery life was excellent.”

“I want to love these, and there's a lot to love, but unfortunately I'm still disappointed with this buy.

They have pretty good sound quality for the little things they are, and the mics are incredible. even when a big garbage truck rolls by, the people on the other end of the line can always hear me great. My issue though is with the thing wireless earbuds really need to have, a sure fit in your ear. They come with a range of swappable parts to help them fit in your ear, but sadly even the combination that fits best in my ear leaves me scrambling to catch them when they pop out due to a strong breeze, or I'm running, or my dog lunges for a stick and takes me with them.

Basically, I have to stay on guard whenever I have them in against them popping out of my ears. Great product otherwise. Just wish I could have figured this out in time to return them.”

“I really liked this when it arrived. The setup with my Pixel phone was instant. Connectivity was perfect... But it was a constant battle to try getting them to fit. I repeatedly switched the pieces trying to find one that stayed in and never found one that was consistently snug. The right one would often not charge overnight. After 6 months, the right one would show up in the app sometimes, but it wouldn't play audio. I really like my other JBL speakers, but I would never buy these again.”

“When it comes to earbuds or on-the-go music, I think of Sony, Jabra, and a few other brands, but JBL had slipped from my radar. That's why the JBL Reflect Aero TWS earbuds have been such a pleasant surprise. These earbuds rock!

► Flexibility:

I own several earbuds for everything from travel, exercise, and straightforward music enjoyment. The Aero earbuds are a bit more flexible than some of my others, like my [[ASIN:B09CFP6J6D Sony WF-C500]]. That's partially thanks to the wing design that uses a piece of silicone to keep the earbuds securely in place, even while running or biking.

I'm also a huge fan of the wrist strap built into the charging case! Although, I wish JBL had implemented a more secure locking mechanism to keep the case close and earbuds secured inside. The case uses magnets to keep it closed.

► Audio Quality:

The audio quality is excellent, and it shouldn't be a surprise. JBL builds some very nice speakers, and that know-how translated well into the Aero's small package. Vocals are crystal-clear with plenty of low-end bass to make music tracks pop.

I also like the audible call-outs for battery life, noise canceling, and other features. Every other audio company does the same, but JBLs implementation is excellent.

► Noise Canceling & Call Quality:

JBL also did a great job with the noise-canceling feature in the Aero earbuds. I've used the Aero's on several trips, and aircraft noise and chatter were gone!

Similarly, call quality is superb, even while outside. I've taken to going on walks in the afternoon or evenings with the Aero earbuds and frequently take or place calls with no complaints.

► Closing:

The JBL Reflect Aero's enter a bustling segment of the earbud segment, but they do everything so well! I recommend this brand along with other big audio names, including Sony!”

“I really wanted to like these. I bought them for running, so a good fit is important. Unfortunately the body of these earbuds is sized so large that it’s hard to find a fit that is both comfortable and secure. No matter what sized tip/wing combo I tried, they fall out. If they don’t fall out, the sound quality is too quiet.

The real straw that broke the camel’s back is that the sweatier one gets, the more likely they are to fall out.

Final verdict: not a good option for running or getting sweaty. Unfortunately they also only charge intermittently. Not ready for prime time, these.”

“I really like these earbuds. They're my second favorite in my current collection. The main reason is just because my ears are small and it's really hard to find a comfortable fit. These work, and they will me my #1 jogging earbuds because of the extra little rubber flap thingie holding them into my ears securely. They just aren't 100% comfortable for my small ears.

I like that it not only has adjustable tips in a reusable container, but also three different sizes of ear flap thingies to customize fit.

The sound is very rich and great for both music and podcasts, which are the main things I listen to. I'm not a sound connoisseur but I've definitely had some crappy sounding earbuds and this isn't one of them.”

"These JBL earbuds stay in ears when running.First, I bought the Bose, but the first pair's left ear soon died. Send them back and reordered them. The second pair developed the same problem. Sound quality and noise cancellation were superb. Next, I bought the new Sony earbuds which had a great conversation feature--if you talk, they shut down for a bit. The sound quality was almost up to the Bose, but they would not stay in my ears while I sat at my desk. I changed earbuds and bought silicone ones, but they still fell out too easily. Finally, after reading tech recommendations in the NY Times, I bought the JBL earbuds, which didn't have the sound quality or the intense noise cancellation of the Bose or Sony but stayed in my ears while I ran. If Bose gets their act together, those are great. If you plan to use your earbuds during exercise, the JBLs are the best."

“I have smaller ears. I find the size of these to be a good fit. I don't think they are technically "small" but they are smaller than other ear buds. Setup was a breeze and my phone immediately connected to the headset. The fit is nice and I like the silicon piece. I find my right ear bud always slips out while working out/running. Not sure why its always just the right side, but these fit snug. I didn't have to keep pushing it back into my ear. Sound was good and I was able to talk on the phone while walking and line was clear and the other line had no issues hearing me or having static flood the conversation. I like plug and play. I dont like having to mess with settings or make adjustments. I like that these were ready right out of the box. Holds a nice long charge and haven't had them die on me yet. I use them daily for listening to audio books and for runs. with all head phones, I didnt notice any "noise cancellation" . I think if anything, outside noise is just a little muffled from the buds in place.”

“The charging case is VERY finicky to the point where the right earbud won’t charge 9 times out of 10 despite clicking into position. These earbuds are also bulky in my ears and fall out when I’m on a run. The noise cancelling isn’t great either (I can hear my boyfriend on Zoom in another room unless I turn on death metal super loud with these). Buuut all that being said, the audio quality is okay for the price point.”

Through the real user review of Jbl reflect aero earbuds, it can be seen that it is a good product. However, although it is a good earbud, it is not suitable for using as a running headphones. Because it is completely wireless in-ear design, it is easy to fall off and cause discomfort to the ears when running. There are many running headphones in the market, and the most comfortable design is bone conduction headphones, because it is not plug into your ear. Therefore, if you want to find a running headphone with a more comfortable wearing experience, Wissonly Hi Runner bone conduction headphone is a affordable substitute.

r/HeyNewGadget - Jbl reflect aero earbuds review:Are they running earbuds?

This is the fastest growing brand of bone conduction headphones in the last six months. The team are all engineers with 10 years of accumulation in the field of bone conduction technology. They started to develop bone conduction headphones that don't hurt ears as early as 2012. To solve the problem of sound leakage of bone conduction headphones, wissonly has made comprehensive improvement in the aspects of vibrator, body design and software optimization. The final result has been applied to Wissonly Hi Runner, and the final sound leakage can be reduced by 90% after laboratory test. I actually used the test myself. At a distance of 2cm, the volume reached 70%, but I still didn't hear the sound of the headphones, which protected my privacy.

r/HeyNewGadget - Jbl reflect aero earbuds review:Are they running earbuds?

Wissonly Hi Runner’s body is made of titanium, which can self-adjust the fitting position to ensure a good wearing experience for headphones, so that more people can wear it. Hi Runner sports bone conduction headphones are open-eared and worn directly on the temples, so your ear canal is completely open, which makes it easy for you to hear the sound of cars and traffic lights outdoors in sports scenes such as running and walking, making you safer to use.

As the core component of the product, the headphones plays a key role in the product experience. Hi Runner model is equipped with Bluetooth 5.0 chip, which makes Bluetooth connection faster and more stable. It also has 32GB of built-in storage so you can use it as an MP3 player.

Other parameters of Wissonly Hi Runner are also excellent. For example, the waterproof level reaches IPX8, and you can wear it to swim or even dive. The battery life reaches 8-10 hours, which is very important to me, because I go out for sports on weekends, and I go out for a whole day.
