Rating: 3.7 Where to buy: Amazon or official website.

“To get to the point, they are GOOD, but not GREAT.

If you can find these discounted (like they are now, here on Amazon) then I say buy them. I paid $45 for the black pair and I think that's fair for what you get. I wouldn't pay full retail for them, $100-$120 is WAY too steep for the quality of the 2100's.

THE GOOD:

They're very snug against your ears, will stay on pretty much no matter what. They sound just as good as the last generation, not really a noticeable jump in quality or anything, but they're also not worse. They look very nice, feel solidly built, last about 6 hours after fully charged and have the same simple controls as the older model.

THE BAD:

The "white noise" some people are mentioning DOES exisist, but if you are playing music at 75% volume or higher, or you wear them to the gym/outside on a jog, you won't hear it. I honestly don't mind it since I usually wear them to the gym and don't hear it. BUT, if you plan to use them as casual-headphones or not blast music in them as you workout, I'd look elsewhere. But to me, it's not THAT bad.. Just a very slight inconvenience.

That's really it.. they're good, just not astounding. If you have the last generation of the BackBeat FIT's and they work fine, I wouldn't bother. If you need some active-friendly bluetooth earbuds, then I'd recommend them.”

“Hands down best workout/run headphones you can buy. I’m constantly at the gym 6 days a week and it’s so hard to find a good pair of headphones you can workout in and run in without sweat getting in the way and of course having them stay in your ears. Besides purchasing Bose over the ear headphones, these are my number 2 favorite workout headphones! For the price, you can’t beat it.”

“Since the cords of the headphones always annoy me a bit, I was looking forward to these BACKBEAT headphones — Wireless. Finally, no more cables.

The handsets are well and securely packaged, so you can continue to use the box for storage. There is a quick start statement in English, all illustrated. First you have to download the app. In the app you will find the user manual and several videos to watch. The user manual is described in detail — in German.

It starts with the first pairing, via adjustment, charging, volume, buttons for music control, etc. It's worth reading through everything. Unfortunately, I did not find how to change the language of the headphones to German. The instructions you hear are all in English.

The headphones are marked with L and R. When you pair the headphones with your smartphone, they are ready to use. I then chose music from my library. The sound is amazingly good. I listen to clear music, it does not rustle, although this was complained in some reviews. If you wear the headset, you can still perceive the external sounds, which is especially important in road traffic.

You interrupt the listening process by pressing the right headset briefly. All actions are performed on the headset. Here, too, the short charging cable is inserted into the socket of the right ear part. After about 2 hours, the headset will be charged. During charging, a small LED light appears, which turns out when the headphones are charged. However, it will be delivered pre-loaded so that you can try out right away. On the right headphones, the device is turned on, on the left, the volume can be adjusted.

I wore the headphones for 2 hours. It felt pleasant, nothing pressed. The membranes are protected by red silicone attachments marked with R and L. The headphones fit well, nothing slips even when workout.

The free-floating connecting bridge stands off with me a little bit with my short hair. If you have longer hair, it fits well.

I think the headphones are good and easy to use. You only need the app to read the manual. The “Find My Headset function” is also good. You can activate this point to locate the headset. The usage analysis actually goes a bit too far for me, I didn't activate it.”

“I have been a fan of this product (previos versions); I have bought 3 for myself (lost during travels unfortunately), bought 3 more as gifts for my colleagues. I lost all 3 of mine (phew) and after I tried different in-ear pieces, finally decided to buy another one (I don’t like the in-ear pieces because they tend to fall off while running... And I am not a big fan of complete noise cancellation because it is dangerous while running and exercising).

I have been using the newly received ones for a week now and I see more bads than goods;

  1. Material

the material became really stiff versus the older version. Not really sure where the value is from this. I think users who have used older versions would agree. It feels more painful in the ear as the material has become more plastickly versus rubbery

2) Sound

The sound of music itself I don’t see much difference. But the voice that gives instructions (when it is connected...)- I don’t know what happened here but it sounds very fuzzy like an AM radio sound. It gives a bad impressuon that the sound is very bad before even turning on the music

3) Buttons

I am still trying to figure out how this works versus the older version. The older version was quite intuitive with buttons on top and the button in the middle. This version has only one hard button; I am trying to figure out how this works looking at the manual. The user interface is in my mind pretty bad if you need to actually study to learn how this works

All in all, I have no major issue using this product.

But I have to say as a huge fan of this product (this is the 7th product I have ordered so far), I am a bit disappointed in this newer version.”

“I've owned my Backbeats for 2 years now and they sound very good for what they are. They can be too loud if you turn them all the way up for music. Alittle too quiet for podcasts if you are in a noisy area but I'd rather protect my hearing. I haven't had the hiss issue that everyone speaks of but that could be the volume I listen to them at or the fact that I'm usually running so I don't notice it. Honestly that hiss sounds like white noise you get when you have the gain too high. I purposely set the max volume of my phone lower than it will actually go to prevent that.

One big callout is how resilient they are to getting wet. On two occasions now I have accidentally left them in my hoodie and have washed them. Each time I put them in rice for a day and they still work amazingly. Battery life is ok to great depending on how you use them. If I go on a long run (1+ hours), I can get another hour or two before I get low battery notifications. I'm personally fine with that and just plug them in after my longest workouts of the week.

Second callout is that I appreciate the over the hear design as I don't have to worry about them falling out during long or vigorous runs.

Overall, if these die; i'll buy another pair.”

“Wonder why the low ratings!!! This is a great headphone for workout. Looks awesome on the ear and doesn’t go deep in the ear, which is a big plus. I come from a QC35 Abdul desperately wanted a slim headphone for workouts as I got bored of the big cups of QC35. This one fulfills it all. Good battery life, great looking on you, easy controls on the device, good sound. Hope they last on me for a good time”

“This version of these headphones are not comfortable. They seem too ridged and won’t stay on my ears so I can’t hear quality music. I had a version of these I purchased a few years ago they were more flexible they fit and worked great but just stopped working one day. I feel these are a waste of money.”

“I read all of the reviews about the hissing noise and comparisons to the BackBeat FIT (old model)

I'm only 1 day in, but I cannot detect any hissing. The sound is slightly richer (bass) than the old model, the fit is a bit more secure although they my be slightly less comfortable. The computer voice is less clear, but that seems like a weird thing to complain about. If you want a workout headphone that allows some ambient noise in, and that fits securely I haven't found a better option.”

“PROS

+ less than $100 ($40 in my specific purchase from Costco)

+ seamless silicon body and earpiece for maximum waterproof potential

+ battery life. I get 3-4 workouts (1 hr each) between charges and that's often leaving them overnight in cold temps.

+ look good, doesn't stick out from your ear too much

+ click functions are simple and easy to pick up

+ every time you turn it on it gives you the basic battery level low/medium/high

+ it charges pretty fast, from completely dead to full in maybe 2 hours. I accidentally left it plugged in one night and it did not fry it, in fact its been the longest hold yet!

CONS

- not very loud, I have to use them at max volume. The volume is tied to my iphone volume, its not a matter of turning up one then the other, they are in sync as one volume level. it's just enough to be dominant over the gym noise.

- they are definitely secure in the ear, but not reaching full potential, because if i push them in ever so slightly the volume CRANKS up. which ties into my first con.

- there is no good way to store them. Did not come with a case or pouch. That is just the nature of the wrap-around design. What i do is clip the two ears together and hang them on my truck's gear shift.”

“I bought these because a friend from work uses them and loved his set.

I have small ears and a small head so the band was way to big with no way to adjust it. Between hard hats and masks the head strap was never able to sit correctly around my head.

The head phones did have a good battery life, about 6 hours, so that was nice but there’s no noise canceling option only transparency. Which they clearly state so I was not shocked by that.

I always had issues tapping the buttons correctly, perhaps human error or due to fabric between my fingers and the earbud.

My ears would hurt after a few hours probably due to poor fitting both from the ear piece itself and the head band.

After a month I gave them to my friend because he loved his and who couldn’t use an extra set of something they love.? He said he cleaned them and used them one time and they rubbed his ear raw rendering them basically useless. This could have happened because they sat around in my lunch bucket for a little while before giving them away or perhaps the cleaning agent used caused the issues but either way he was Not impressed.

Over all this brand has worked well in the past but the set I got was a dud for 2 people.”

Most users have given favorable reviews on Plantronics backbeat fit, indicating that it is a good headphone for workout. However, it is not without its shortcomings. Its in-ear design makes it uncomfortable and unstable to wear.
