Sony WH-XB910N Bluetooth wireless headphones review:Are they gym headphones?
Oct 10,2023 | David
Sony WH-XB910N Bluetooth wireless headphones adopts a similar design to WH-1000XM4, but the leather material of the skin is changed into plastic, which also effectively reduces the weight of the product. There will be no chuck after wearing for a long time. As for the core noise reduction, WH-XB910N adopts the same dual-feedback microphone as WH-1000XM4, which can effectively filter the ambient noise, and can achieve 20-speed noise reduction adjustment. At the same time, the wind noise reduction mode with better noise reduction effect can also be selected in Sony’s own headphone Connect app.So what is the actual experience of this headphone? Can it be used as a gym headphone?This article collects some real reviews from users for reference.

“I’m obsessed. I had the last model and these are leaps and bounds better. The last model the inside would hurt my ears, these never do. The noise canceling works, obviously if you have nothing playing u can hear some things but if anything is playing on your headphones esp if you play music no other noises will bother you. Like for example if some creep talks to you at the gym, you don’t even have to look over bc you never even heard him. And the wind control is insane, i sometimes use it when when my boyfriend thinks it’s normal to have the AC set to full blast and like 3 fans going. Plus over ear headphones are superior when it comes to trying to get people not to talk to you.”

“Great all around, touch controls are a bit sensitive if you’re using them in the gym, but that can be turned off. Volume could be a bit louder but I also just like to blast my music. My only issue has been they seem to randomly switch off when I’m in the gym, has only happened a couple times but since it happened more than once I’m docking a point, could be due to the sweat but I’m not sure.”

“Cons:
- the left speaker would play this annoying hum the entire time the headphones were on.
- It loved playing static instead of my music half the time i would use them
-The touchscreen panel on the on the side Is a great feature but when I was doing my squats I accidentally rubbed against it with my shoulder and skip the song but all in all these Some fire headphones.
-lasted about 6–7 days before I had issues
- the extra base doesn’t compare to the first model they had
Pros:
-I got these on sale for $129 on Amazon sold by Amazon.
- I purchased the warranty just incase”

“Where do I begin?
Too much app control.
In noise cancelling and ambient sound there is an annoying low frequency rumble. When both are off, these cans are just not comfortable.
Used on a long flight. The battery life was good. But just annoying after 2 hours of wear.
Can use passive with provided cable. That was fine. But I can get that on a $25 pair of skullcandys.
The bass response is amazing.
Look elsewhere. These are not the headphones you seek…”

“First off I’d like to say that I do love my headphones. The bass and sound quality is amazing. Noise canceling? You can still hear without the music playing, it’s just not as loud. Also I have found out that when I walk, there is loud thumping noise in the headphones that kind of hurts my ears so I won’t be wearing them to the gym. The overall quality of the headphones seems very cheap and plastic. I would buy them again but only when they’re on sale.”

“I’ll get straight to point: Buy these at the current discounted price. These headphones are worth the original price tag but, if I would’ve known they’d be on sale, I would’ve waited just a little longer. The noise cancelling paired with the Bass make these a solid choice for the price. I use these at the gym and I definitely disassociate from reality at least once every 15 minutes during my workout. The ear pieces do get a little warm while working out but you’re at the gym. Lets be real now.
Aside from that the headphones are definitely worth the discounted price tag. Save yourself some money and lets work on preserving your hearing because only god knows how loud your music was during middle school.”

“Deep, DEEP bass. Do not buy if you’re an audiophile. Bass is so overwhelming, everything else sounds soft and muddled. It even drowns out details.
Perfect headphones for gym to completely cancel out gym music and people talking. Although your ears need a break for ventilation after 30 mins because the cushions are thick. I haven’t tried phone calls yet, so no verdict on that.
Giving it 5 stars because it overdelivers on the promise of XTRA BASS and ANC.”

“Pros: The noise cancellation on the Sony WH-XB910N is very good. It drowns out a good amount of noise when working in an office environment or at home close to a loud gaming computer. The audio quality for music, video and gaming is very good as well. You can adjust the bass and treble within the Sony Headphones app. Battery life holds up very well so far. I use the headphones for roughly 10 hours everyday and I usually charge it every 3 or 4 days just to keep the headphone charged. Included is a nice carrying case.
Cons: No charging brick included. USB-A to USB-C cable is included but very short.
Recommendations: I would definitely recommend these to anyone in the market for some decent quality headphones. The noise cancellation and sound quality is unquestionable. My only recommendation is to purchase the headphones while on-sale. I would not recommend purchasing them at full price of $250.”

“First of all I wanted you guys to know that how glad I am that I chose this product over Sony XM4 which costs almost 10k more than this. I have used both this and XM4 and I can surely say that this is the better sounding headphones than Sony XM4. Only Pro of Sony XM4 is that It has better noise cancelling. But if you want better sound than go for this one. I was too skeptical to buy this at first. Initial days of usage i was not that comfortable using these at the gym as I was using Airpods Pro since 2 years. These headphones kept coming off my head whenver I used to bend to get the dumbells. But after few days I got the perfect setting of the headphones for my head. There are many levels on the headphones which u can set according to your head. Once you find that setting this headphone is never getting off your head.
Secondly, this headphones sounds brilliant with great noise cancellation. As the name suggests Xtra bass, it is purely xtra bass but doesn’t ruins the mids highs and locals of the song. Perfect settings for the sound by default. There are few more EQ settings available in Headphones app, but the default settings are so brilliant that you wont be needing any of the other settings.”

“Pros
* Great noise cancelling
* Pretty comfortable
* Modern design
* Easy controls
* Aux cable option
Cons
* Not the best sound quality out there
* A little bulky
* Often have to restart them because multipoint doesn’t work great
I work at a computer all day and wear headphones for about 12 hours of the day every single day. I’m always weary about buying new headphones since they can drastically alter the quality of my day. These are extremely comfortable and have great noise cancelling.
The multipoint is super useful but it has issues. I have them connected to my computer and phone at the same time so I can seamlessly go from Zoom meetings to watching Netflix on my phone at lunch without having to remove my headphones. However, upon initial connection, I often have to restart them several times because sound will not play. My computer is always updated to the latest iOS and my phone is a brand new model but for some reason, after I hear “Bluetooth connected” and “Second device connected”, no sound will play from either device. I have to restart the headphones and try again. It sometimes takes 2–3 restarts to finally connect right. I don’t know if this is a problem with the headphones or with the OS but regardless it is really frustrating considering the price of these headphones.
The sound quality is decent. I’ve had much better from Audio Technica but that’s their specialty so I was expecting them to compare. The controls are easy to use. I also appreciate the option to use the aux cable instead of bluetooth. Every time I fly, I have to bring multiple headphones so I can watch the on flight movies but with the aux option, these will be great! They are a bit bulky if you care about appearance but have a nice modern design.
If you don’t want the multipoint functionality and are okay spending a bit more, then the noise cancelling and comfort are worth it. However, if you use the multipoint a lot, then I recommend you look for another option.”
The above is the real user review of Sony WH-XB910N Bluetooth wireless headphones, which shows that it is a good product. However, even though its various functions are satisfactory, it is not very suitable for use as a gym headphone. Because its earmuffs are too massive, it is easy to cause stuffy ears and feel uncomfortable. Besides, this headphone is not waterproof.Therefore,if you expect to find gym headphones that are more comfortable, stable and practical in the market, Wissonly Hi Runner bone conduction headphone is worth your consideration.
Wissonly’s team has been researching headphone products that don’t hurt the ear as early as 10 years ago and introduced bone conduction technology into the field of headphones. Their products have powerful performance, high-cost performance, and are very strong in core performances such as sound quality, sound leakage reduction, and waterproof level.
Hi Runner sports bone conduction headphones are open-eared and worn directly on the temples, so your ear canal is completely open, which makes it easy for you to hear the sound of cars and traffic lights outdoors in sports scenes such as running and walking, making you safer to use.
In terms of fit and comfort, the whole frame of Wissonly Hi Runner is made of adjustable aviation grade titanium steel, which can adapt to different sizes of head circumference and ensure the stability of wearing. Its earphone surface is made of high-tech low-sensitivity silicone material, which contains no chemical components to avoid allergic phenomena. The overall touch of the earphone is as silky as baby’s skin, avoiding uncomfortable situations when worn for a long time.
Moreover, its weight is very light, less than 30g, and it will not feel heavy when worn. After wearing it, I took it off at the end of the run. This Hi Runner didn’t let me have any extra adjustment. As the flagship model of outdoor sports of Wissonly brand, it is the most comfortable and cost-effective one among all bone conduction at present.
When you sweat a lot when running or doing other sports at the gym, or when it suddenly rains when you run or exercise outdoors, then the waterproof performance of sports headphones is very important.As the flagship model of Wissonly,the waterproof grade of Wissonly Hi Runner Sports Bone Conductivity Headphone reaches IPX8 waterproof grade higher than the industry standard. It allows the wearer to work normally when swimming or diving, not to mention sweat prevention or ordinary waterproof.
It is also equipped with 32G body memory, which can store 5,000 songs, and supports Bluetooth and MP3 working modes. You can use it as a Bluetooth MP3 player for underwater sports or scenes without a mobile phone.
Hi Runner is the flagship product of Wissonly, and its overall function is also the most perfect. In terms of sound quality, this bone conduction earphone uses the latest research results of wissonly laboratory, which increases the vibration area of the vibrator by 35%. At the same time, it also optimizes the sound transmission direction to make the sound more concentrated and the music more spatial, and it has a good performance in both high and low notes.
Wissonly has made a lot of efforts to reduce its sound leakage. Its all-wrapped design reduces the vibration of the shell, and through structural optimization, the sound waves of the sound leakage are cancelled, thus avoiding 90% of the sound leakage. Wissonly Hi Runner’s sound leakage performance is much better than that of the same gear bone conduction headphones on the market.
