Skullcandy riff wireless headphones review:How about their sound quality?

Skullcandy has been making headphones for more than a decade, and its products have generally been quite popular thanks to their funky colour schemes. Today, we'll be testing the wireless version of the Riff headphones, simply called the Riff Wireless.You don't get much in terms of frills, and the only features worth boasting of seem to be its low weight and the claimed 12-hour battery life. “It is a struggle to find light headphones that don't have the sound capped for young children. These are alright. I was a huge fan of the previous Uproar Wireless from Skullcandy and was disappointed when those were discontinued. These are almost as good as those. The sound quality is good, they're mostly comfortable but the battery life seriously sucks. I used to go upwards of 14 hours with uproar, most days I barely get 12 with these, sometimes less from a full charge. They do thankfully work alright with my wire glasses. They were a little uncomfortable with plastic frames.”

“Great headphones. Love Skullcandy. Only complaint is that the top part that rests against your head isn't padded like the Grind so when you lay down on your side it's hard and uncomfortable. Absolutely love the ear cushions- very comfortable and no soreness from long wear. Bluetooth is very reliable. Battery life is about one day of constant use- sightly less than Grind. The blue blinking light is annoying especially in the dark as I can see it in the corner of my eye. I'm also not a fan of the button design in this model. It's difficult to differentiate between the volume keys and power button. The design of the buttons and their location on Grind is way better. Sound quality is great. Good bass and clear speech. It's neat that you can fold up the headphones for easy storage.

Edit (5/28/2020): The main headband is now broken and snapped surprisingly easily with barely any pressure. The right headphone adjustable section had snapped a few months back. The quality of the plastic is pretty poor but the sound quality is still top notch in my opinion. It lasted a long time and technically still works. My only other complaint is that the "color" of the holes in the headphone ear cushions is literally just a colored piece of fabric which easily moves around (not sewn or glued) and folds and crumples, revealing the green foam underneath.”

“I was able to use these headphones for two days. But on the second day when I tried to turn them off they went to pair mode and froze. They wouldn’t shut off even after pressing the middle and bottom button for 3 seconds, which is supposed to turn it on and off according to the instructions.

I attempted to let them die in the hopes that they would reset and I would be able to connect them again.

That failed too, once again the purple “pair” light came on but they still wouldn’t connect to my phone. The connection kept timing out, and same as before I couldn’t shut them off either.

Other than that the headphones themselves were comfortable and squishy on the ears. But the sound quality was subpar. I would have been ok with that if I had been able to continue using them.”

“These hearing aids are very good but lately I fail the connection 1 time every 2 weeks, it is not my cell i try to connect to my PC good and nothing, I wait the next day and ready, the verda does not know because it will be a universal problem of Bluetooth failures in general but the bass and a little bad treble are heard well. If you want them to watch content and listen to music they are very good but if you want a lot of quality there are better but more expensive”

“Got these for my wife after returning the Sesh true wireless buds. They had some serious connection issues. These headphones she saw and wanted immediately. So I obliged and she was very happy. They fit around the head with ease and the swivels are great for storage. The speakers themselves don't actually fit around your ear but rather lay on your ear so noise cancelation isn't too great. That would be my only complaint in terms of build. Sound quality isn't amazing but it's very good. I would definitely mess around with settings in your phone to find the right sound but it is still very good. The battery life I havent experienced personally as my wife uses these more (I have Samsung buds) but I hardly see her charging them so that seems to be a good deal. All in all would recommend if you want a cheap and decent listening value. Great for the price.”

“I didn't buy my pair on Amazon, I had a $100 Google gift card and bought a pair for me and a pair for my wife and only ended up having to pay like 4 dollars for shipping or tax or whatever which was pretty nice. I got the gray/miami color.

The sound quality is great and pairing them to my PC was effortless. It's nice not having to be tethered to my computer.

Since I wear headphones for gaming I typically wear them for long time in one setting. So having said that the most important thing for me is lightweight- and these are very light. I know a lot of people think "heavy" correlates to quality build or price in things like headphones and even cellphones, but this mindset makes for an uncomfortable end result, in my opinion. Having said that while the cups are soft they do clamp my head about bit and my ears a bit tender after a while, but it is because my head is big and these are designed for a bit smaller noggin. The battery life is great, I usually wear mine about ~3 hours at a time and they charge up rather quickly.

I'd give them 5 stars if the band was a bit wider for larger domes like mine.”

“I bought these for my son for Christmas and he absolutely loves them. The ear pads are super soft. He says that he can wear them for long periods of time and they don't hurt or irritate him. I tried them on myself and they are extremely comfortable and the base/sound quality was great. He also absolutely loves the speckled design and colors. “Decent sound quality but horrible materials and build.

I bought these 3 months ago. Very first thing I noticed with them was how uncomfortable I found them on my head. I keep my head shaved these are made of cheap hard plastic that was very uncomfortable and if worn for any length of time actually became painful. I brought them with me on a 3 hour flight and wasn’t able to keep them on for over 90 minutes because of how much they began to hurt. I continued using them at home to listen to music while I worked until they snapped when I went to put them on. Based on other reviews and photos this is not an uncommon issue.

On the positive side the sound quality was good and the battery life was very good. But it’s pretty meaningless because the quality was so poor they were uncomfortable to wear for any length of time and broke in 3 months.

There are much better headsets available for cheaper prices.”
