“As someone who travels a lot for work and shares a hotel room with my coworkers, I was looking for earbuds with noise cancellation to block out the TV so I could read and write in peace, while also being comfortable, as well as use them in the gym. After looking into these, I kept seeing that the noise cancellation was pretty good, but not great -- and I'd agree with that. You won't be blocking out really loud sounds, but it's good enough to make a big difference compared to earbuds or headphones without the feature at all.

Although I wish that feature was a little better, it's not bad, and the thing that really got me to buy these is the other aspect that I kept hearing about, which is the comfort. I can happily say that these are extremely comfortable; I've even tested this by wearing them for a full day at work just to see what effect continuous hours of use would feel like. By the end of the day, my ears felt no different than when I'd put them in. Very impressed with the fit.

Aside from that, everything else is good. Sound quality is great. Controls are ok but too easy to activate (if you lie in bed and turn your head, the pillow will activate the prompts, which is not ideal). I sometimes turn off the ability to use them just for the sake of not doing so accidentally. Software is not bad either.

“The noise cancellation is eerily good. I've started using these for work to help with focus, and they've been perfect for that. I've tried them out at my gym as well and again, did a wonderful job blocking ambient noise.

“I've been useing these headphones for the last 3 weeks, they were working fine so far but three days ago they just decide to stop charging. I've tried cleaning the charging port and cleaning the headphones multiple times but nothing that I seems to do is working. This is the first time I've bought headphones that are over 100$ and I can't say that I'm satisfied with the product that I received. “I've had these about a month or so and I have to say they are the best all around buds I've owned (and I've owned a lot...too many in fact). These are comfortable, stay in the ear, have very good cancelation, excellent voice calls, great sound quality and while I thought the features were "gimmicky" at first, I've dialed in a set of features that really works for me.

I love the feature that pauses the music and turns on ambient sound the moment you speak...absolutely great for when people ask you a question and you don't have to manually pause anything. The only downside is that you can't sing along with a song though! Surprisingly I have come to really like the ability to say Alexa commands just by saying "Alexa". It really is possible to wear the headphones all day and never have to touch them I don't really use the location feature, although I tested it and it works so it may be useful if you had settings for the gym, home and work.

So I wouldn't say it is the "best" at anything in particular (except maybe voice calls), but it is very, very good at pretty much everything and I've never had any headphones that could check off all the boxes so competently. They have become my go--to buds.”

“I tried the XM4s and they are really good BUT they are pretty pricey. Tried the WF-C500s and they are a great option on the lower price spectrum. These are every bit as good as the XM4s without the almost $300 price tag. These are newer and have the same processing V1 chip so the ANC is outstanding but the ambient sound feature is better in these. Battery life is great and the 1 hour listening time out of a 10-minute charge is a nice perk. The smaller form factor and lightweight making them easy to wear for long periods of time. These are my go-to set for everything but gym work. The price is great but still not easy to replace if a bud goes missing. I use the C500s for those occasions and together they are worth every bit as much as a set of XM4s without having to worry about the cost of replacing if I lose or break a bud.”

“What I was looking for in a set of ear buds was good pass-through or ambient sound mode, good call quality for the person on the other end and the ability to keep some sound out. I've watch all of the reviews online and everyone puts the original Linkbuds high for call quality but very niche for the ambient sound quality. I loved the idea but I also wanted to be able shut the sound of my wife blaring the TV while I'm watching something on my phone. I found that the more expensive models rely to much on technology to filter out sound which negatively affected call quality. These LinkBud S's meet in the middle of all of that. The call quality is as good as the original linkbuds and better than any other I have tried before. My voice does not cut out when the wind blows while I am on a call. The ambient sound mode actually is pretty awesome, it works so much better than I expected. The ANC mode works well enough, I am not able to hear anyone talking to me when it is on. The battery life could be better but 5.5 hrs is pretty accurate for what it is worth plus what ever is in the case.

The case has a cool texture to it also. I have struggled to replace my LG neckband headphones but I think these will work.”

I had another more popular brand of ear buds that cost almost twice as much, they just weren't comfortable and the noise canceling was not effective at the gym. These Sony LinkBuds S are fantastic. They are so light and comfortable. They fit very well and stay in during all my activities, including treadmill. I oten use for long periods of time, the ear buds stay comfortable and don't hurt my ears. The app is great. Not only can you personalize the EQ, but you can create favorite places that allows you to control noise canceling or ambient sound level and other settings that you set to auto adjust based on location.”

“I use these daily at least 12+ hours a day during the week at work, one ear out in my work truck, and at the gym. I honestly barely notice they're there sometimes, I've almost gotten in the shower with them in 3 times since buying them this last month.

I'm not crazy on noise canceling in general, I use it for hearing protection when I'm using power tools like grinders and sds drills and they definitely work better than ear plugs, they also manage to not get dusty somehow during rough in work. Mowing the lawn I can clearly listen to podcasts without missing what someone says. But I suppose if you're REALLY that worried about it you could get some foam ear tips, but I suspect that would ruin their perfect comfort.

And while I've dropped them twice, I'm partially convinced that they're so light the impact doesn't induce as much shock.

They're incredibly comfortable, sound great, I recharge the case every other night (I'll never understand people who complain about a 24hr case charge), and I got them for $150... Half what I paid for my now beat up after a year wf-1000xm4's.

I think I've fallen in love with the midrange option. Highly recommend. I think they go on sale pretty often too.”

“So, a few key things to say about this product, and how I use it. This rating is purely based on my experience with it.

On my end, first, I went with a refurbished version. Second, I'll easily use them 8-12 hours a day, definitely more than some people. 3rd, I'm often in somewhat louder environments.

How have these Sony earbuds held up? A few weeks in, I have had some serious issues with the noise cancelling aspect. Sometimes, one or both earbuds will give loud, high pitched, static or feedback. The only thing that seemed to 'fix' that issue is by putting both bids back into the case to reset them. The other option is actually to turn the noise cancelling off in the app. I'd say that's the biggest issue.

A somewhat minor problem is, the app almost gets in the way more than it helps. I cannot leave the Adaptive Sound Control on, as it changes my settings too often. I prefer to use the Ambient Sound Control (single tap) option, but then you cannot turn off noise cancelling altogether to fix the giant feedback issue. Not really as important is the battery life. Often, I will only get 5 hours in before having to charge them. If I could run noise cancelling on, it actually extends battery life by being able to turn the volume down. Issues have arisen there, however.

I actually Really like how quickly they charge, though. Really did great there. The equalizer included within the app feels decent enough, and the sound is about as good as I've heard.

In all, I do not know if I would say these were worth the money I spent on them. Some issues may have been the fact I went with refurbished, but if it is certified refurbished, then that's Sony endorsed. If they don't want me complaining about issues on a refurbished product, tighten those reins. If they chopped the full price for new ones in half (closer to $100-$110), I'd definitely go for them.”
