JBL Live 460NC Wireless On-Ear Headphones Review

Nov 22,2023 | David

The JBL Live 460NC is a wireless on-ear headset with active noise cancellation. They have a neutral sound profile with a bit of extra thump and rumble, making them suitable for lots of different audio content. However, while their ANC does a decent overall job of blocking out background noise, it struggles more to cut down bass-range sounds like bus or plane engine noise.

In addition, some users have said that their on-ear fit to be uncomfortable for long listening sessions. So how do users feel about these headphones? Let us find out through reviews from users on Amazon!

Review 1: ★★★★★

“Love it!! I really like the quality, battery last for more than 3 days. I’d no issues with it. I took them with me all the time. And it looks pretty. Sometimes they heart a little if you have them for a while. but they are great. Loved them! I really liked the quality of the headsets. They have a nice and elegant design. The battery lasts a long time.

It has never been discharged while I am on the street. The sound is surround with good bass. It’s always going to depend on the quality of your equipment. Since I’ve noticed that it sounds better on some high-end equipment. Sometimes it hurts a little, if you wear it all day, as in my case. The calls are clearly heard. Noise cancellation is good, although it could be better. But for that price it’s more than okay.”

Review 2: ★★★★☆

“So the sound quality beats even my Sienhouser over ear headphones by leaps and bounds. My Samsung earbuds cannot even come close. My Beats in ear are the only ones that come in very close second.

NOW they do hurt my ears the way they fit (hence the 4 stars) but adjusting during use seems to remedy the pain. No matter what they are a steal at the price I got them and my only regret is I didn’t buy 2.”

Review 3: ★★★☆☆

“These headphones are a really nice quality. They look great and sound great; however, I haven’t had these for a year and already the power button is broken. Also the auto play/pause function is way to sensitive. I kept having to press play every time I turned my head. I think I would prefer a simpler design. Too many buttons for my taste.”

Review 4: ★★☆☆☆

“I received an open box so I was already skeptical since I payed the full price to get them new, I decided to try them out anyway and once I played my music and put them on they immediately began pausing and unpausing constantly without even pressing the buttons, anytime I adjusted the headphones they would pause for no reason. I didn’t wear them long but I could tell if I left them on much longer they’d also hurt my ears. Definitely going to return.”

Review 5: ★★★★☆

“Overall, I think these are pretty good. Specifically, and most importantly, they hurt my ears after about 10 minutes of listening. I keep adjusting them until I find a comfortable fit. The noise cancellation is good for the price paid. The sound quality is also good. The JBLs work well with hearing aids. I find the controls a little jumbled for big fingers like mine when you can’t see which control you want to press. The battery has not been tested for more than an hour, so I can’t elaborate on it.”

Review 6: ★★★☆☆

“My pair had an electrical problem which I’m glad because they are uncomfortable smashed against my ear. Wind blows right in as well. I ended up getting 660’s which I like much better. These might be fine for kids but I’d say that they are too expensive for them. I’m not sure why they designed them this way.”

Review 7: ★★★★☆

“I really liked this headphones the main reason because of the noise cancellation. I love the noise cancellation when someone is on the phone being Loud it blocks it out and I hear people talking but not as much with the music playing, but what the reviews said it really does bother our ears. I think because it will work for small ears even if I lower it down. I feel weird and feel like it would fall but overall I like it. The sound quality is good, I’m just sad that it just bothers my ear again a really good headphones. I would recommend this affordable.

Headphones also the battery life is good. I been using this headphones for the past three days and I still haven’t charged it yet and it’s on 50% right now.”

Review 8: ★★★☆☆

“Good noise cancellation battery life and sound for the price but the auto pause and play feature is junk. It’s constantly pausing while I’m working and I’m not in a position to restart it for long periods of time and doesn’t actually work as intended when you take off the headset. I disabled it in the JBL app but the play/pause button is absolutely tiny and in between other tiny buttons and is very hard to use.”

Review 9: ★★★★★

“JBL headphones are undoubtedly the best I have ever owned, elevating my audio experience to an unparalleled level of excellence. With cutting-edge technology and exceptional craftsmanship, these headphones deliver an unparalleled combination of superb sound quality, remarkable comfort, and sleek design.

One of the most striking features of JBL headphones is their ability to produce clear and vibrant sound across a wide range of frequencies, ensuring every beat, melody, and lyric is presented with stunning detail and accuracy. Whether I am indulging in my favorite music genres, immersing myself in podcasts, or enjoying immersive gaming sessions, JBL headphones never fail to captivate me with their exceptional audio clarity and immersive depth.”

Review 10: ★☆☆☆☆

“For the most part these would be a decent pair of headphones, but I wish I had known that you cannot turn off the touch to voice command feature that absolutely ruins the experience. A piece of hair sets it off, and then it wigs out and won’t play anything. The wind is an issue when you are outside. There is a good battery life and the sound quality is decent, but they are small and hurt your ears after some time. Not good for plane- touch feature too sensitive!”

Analyzing the good and bad reviews given by users to the JBL Live 460NC wireless on-ear headphones, we can learn that most of them are satisfied with the excellent sound quality of these wireless headphones. But it still has some issues that frustrate users. The size of the headphones is too small and there are problems with the configuration of the device. Also, the control buttons on these headphones are so sensitive that they automatically pause or play when accidentally touched.

So, it is recommended that users carefully consider and compare other brands of headphones before choosing the right one for them. Compared to the JBL Live 460NC wireless on-ear headphones, we recommend you to find an affordable but better-performing alternative, and we recommend the Wissonly Hi Runner bone conduction headphones.

The following are the reasons for recommendation:

This is the most configured bone conduction headphones on the market.

Wissonly bone conduction headphones are the first brand I started to contact. When they recommended it on the online crowdfunding platform, I noticed it, after saw that many people were recommending, and I bought it. This Hi runner I used for a few months, and the overall performance was better than I expected.

Some bone conduction headphones leak sound, and you know that I take privacy very seriously, so I’m very concerned about anti-sound-leakage technology. Wissonly Hi Runner does a very good job in the field. Its body is sealed, and its sound leakage is minimized through structural optimization and algorithm adjustment.

The official claim they can eliminate 90% of sound leakage. I do not have professional equipment to test, but I have tried and found that at 60%-70% volume, the sound leakage is completely inaudible at a distance of 1.5 meters, which makes me very satisfied.

Actually, I have compared it with other bone conduction headphones, and the Hi Runner has currently the best sound leakage reduction solution in bone conduction headphones.

Wissonly Hi Runner is also particularly comfortable in the wearing experience. Because the material of the whole machine is high-tech hypoallergenic silicone, and it is coupled with the ergonomic design that conforms to the structure of the human ear, so that users will not bring any burden to the ear under long-term wear.

Sound quality as the core performance is undoubtedly worth mentioning. Hi Runner uses a large-sized vibration unit, the sound range is wider, more three-dimensional and deeper, so the sound quality is undoubtedly very good. Plus, it is also equipped with a Bluetooth 5.0 chip, the connection is more stable. And it will not be disconnected when used, which is a good experience.

The Wissonly Hi Runner also comes with 32G of built-in storage that can store 5,000 songs, and you can use it completely as an MP3 player to enjoy music without your smartphone when you go out for a run.
